This on-going collection pushes the boundaries of landscape, focusing on place and experience rather than just aesthetics. Each piece is painted entirely with coffee instead of paint, using coffee from local coffee shops as much as possible.
I believe in the potential for local coffee shops to serve as spaces for community and inclusion, and often use coffee painting as a way to bridge the unspoken distance between people who have sat a table over but never met.
I plan to expand the collection this summer, creating a coffee painting in every new place I visit and creating a record of the places I’ve explored and the people I’ve met through place-based coffee art.

This series of animals painted in coffee cups, with coffee, started by accident. I was working on a watercolor paining, and I had a cup of water to rinse out my brushes right next to my cup of coffee. I put my brush in the wrong cup by accident. I figured I'd ruined my coffee so I painted a hedgehog, and kept going from there.
